Saturday, June 5th, 2010In the Summer of 2009 I moved to New York to design for DKNY Jeans at their design offices in the Meat Packing District. It was only a few months after I made the move that I was asked to move with them to Singapore. Here are some glimpses of fashion, the city’s culture, and my short but sweet life in my favorite city.

Sunday, May 16th, 2010Knit Novice: Alice McColm
Sunday, May 9th, 2010Every now and then, while researching designs at the office, I come across a designer whose unfamiliar name or work leaves a lasting impression on me. Newcomer Alice McColm is one of those names. Her first collection, which premiered at Graduate Fashion Week in June 2009 (Middlesex University alum), should be recognized by new and aspiring runway designers everywhere. While she doesn’t stray far from practicality and current trend, her approach to fabric and fur medium is rather new and extremely refreshing. It could effortlessly fit on the runways of New York Fashion Week (right alongside Rodarte). McColm has done an excellent job of finding the balance between what is familiar and what is new, while applying big statements to each look. I, for one, am excited to see what she comes up with next.

Man On The Street: Magic Tradeshow 2009
Sunday, March 15th, 2009Magic Tradeshow 2009 in Las Vegas portrayed the always ecclectic street sillohettes and color palettes the Westcoast is known for.
While scanning the aisles for new brands, I snapped some photos of the streetwear that attendees were sporting. I captured a broad scope of what’s out there this season.
Most of the captions on each photo are descriptions that were given to me by the muses themselves when asked how they would describe their personal style. Enjoy.

Sneak Peek: Matthew Williamson for H&M
Sunday, March 15th, 2009Here is your first look at what you can be expecting from Matthew Williamson for H&M. The first shipment hits (a limited) 200 H&M stores on April 23, 2009. The second delivery, which will be sold at 1,700 H&M stores, is scheduled for mid-May.
Williamson has kept true to his love for fabric and colors, utilizing expensive silks and sequins to bring his prints to life. As expected, the quality of his fabric choices have not been compromised, hence the price point which is on the more expensive side of H&M’s usual prices. Here are some key looks!

The Love Interest: Tilda Swinton
Wednesday, March 11th, 2009You may remember Tilda Swinton most recently as the Russian swimming love interest of Brad Pitt in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. She is not the most obvious choice for glamour and beauty but I think she is absolutely captivating. She also knows exactly how to dress to support her look and accentuate her extremely distinct features , and I think shes a noteworthy muse. Here are some images of her cover and spread for Another Magazine for Spring/Summer 09. She can also be seen here in her Lanvin Oscar ensemble from last month, and here looking ferocious in a September 2008 spread for W Magazine.
Ps. Wouldn’t she be great for Lanvin’s next campaign?. . .Hmm.
